Some Soldiers serving in Iraq receivde a few extra boxes of goodies this Christmas after receiving Baily Boxes from Maricopa Veterains of Foreign Wars.

"This was a great suprise," said Cpl. Max Gellert, a squad leader in a Stryker Platoon. "It is nice to know that people other than our families are thinking about us back home."

Gellert and his unit have been in Iraq since August and are scheduled to complete a 15 month tour.

Bailey Boxes are named after the charities founder Herb Bailey, a Vietnam Vet and Maricopa resident.

He says that it is nice to be able to help fellow soldiers, but that it is important to remember that they fight year round and our support should be the same.

The Maricopa Chamber of Commerce has been a supporter of Bailey boxes by providing a drop point for goods to ship to troops.

if you are interested in donating goods for Bailey Boxes, please bring them by the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce located at 44870 W. Hathaway, Suite 5, next door to the Maricopa Post Office.
