The Dodie Londen Excellence in Public Service Series announced the selection of two Pinal County women, The Honorable Cheryl Chase and Dr. Janice Pratt, for the class of 2008.  Only fifteen participants from a highly qualified field of candidates were selected for the inaugural Arizona program committed to "achieving positions of leadership for women in the 21st Century."

Cheryl Chase served three two-year terms in the Arizona House of Representatives.  Former Rep. Chase earned a reputation as a strong advocate for rural issues, health care, education and public safety. Chase was considered by her peers in the legislature as an expert in health care, due to her 20 plus years as an industrial nurse.  She recently joined Central Arizona College as the Economic and Educational Development Liaison. Chase lives in Kearny with her husband, Rod, and they have two grown children who reside in the Pinal area.

Janice Pratt has been a servant leader in various local, state, and worldwide organizations.  She has earned national and international awards for teaching excellence and innovation.  Pratt has been with Central Arizona College (CAC) since 1990 as a professor in the business division.  Pratt also coordinates special College projects such as the opening of the CAC Maricopa Center and assisting Pinal County high schools with College articulation and credit programs.  She is a board member of the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce.  Pratt and her husband, Frank, reside in Casa Grande.
